Mustard Green from the garden to the table.

Mustard Green Giant Curled  The Harvest

Mustard Green (Giant Curled) while still young and tender I harvested approx 6 feet of plants.

A nice mess of greens  Ready to wash and remove bugs

Fresh cut right out the garden waiting to go into the wash tub.

Mustard Greens in the wash  Mustard Greens ready for the pot

In the wash to remove dirt. If there are any bugs they will float to the top.  As I take the greens out the large stems are removed.

Water boiling in the pot  In the pot for about 20 minutes

Got the big boiling pot on the stove in my outdoor kitchen.  A little salt / pepper added and Mustard Greens will be boiled for approx 20 minutes or until nice and tender.

Mustard Green for Supper

Add a couple of boiled eggs and you have a meal.

tip  Putting up Greens ...... After blanching your greens or even after fully cooked (which is the way I like to do em) you can place them in plastic freezer containers, covering/topping them with filtered water to prevent freezer burn and they'll last for months.

I've put them up seasoned, with bacon added and they keep all winter.  When you feel like eating mustard green just put them in a small pot with a little water (keeps the ones on the bottom from burning) and in a few minutes they're thawed and ready to eat.  Quick and easy.
