2009 Season DVDs |
2009 Season / DVD Disc 1 ... The first in our series of DVDs and I’m excited. We start out in the Fall of 2008 with breaking ground and planting our Onion seed and Mustard Green. Once the bulbs are large enough they are transplanted and spaced out in new rows. The next segment is about planting Irish potatoes and a “Knot Head” dog. After that we jump to harvesting, washing, blanching and freezing Mustard Green. Carrots will be dug and canned showing a “Big Mistake” in canning and how to correct it. A little fresh Okra is cooked in the Microwave and a big pork roast is shot up (injected with seasoning) and cooked in the Big Easy. A quick and easy way to cut up and freeze your Peppers is also included. Demonstrates my "Keeping it Simple" method of growing a successful vegetable garden. Thanks and hope you enjoy. Can be viewed on your TV or PC. Video length … approx 75 minutes. |
2009 Season / DVD Disc 2 ... We start out canning Mustard Green with all the seasoning added then jump to planting our spring tomatoes. Next it’s starting cucumbers in pots and growing them on a rack so the vines will grow down instead of up, worked pretty well. Starting a worm bed is covered in the next segment which includes what to feed em and adding the worms. Cranking up the tractor we break ground, fertilize, draw some rows and plant our Purple Hull Peas. After two tries we get our Mirliton or Chayote planted and growing. Back in the shop I construct some tomato cages. In the next part getting the Earthway planter setup to put out the right amount of seeds is made easy. Thinking of selling some of your vegetables well I’ll give you an idea on a sign that shows just what you have for sale. Demonstrates my "Keeping it Simple" method of growing a successful vegetable garden. Thanks and hope you enjoy. Can be viewed on your TV or PC. Video length … approx 65 minutes. |
2009 Season / DVD Disc 3 ... We start out preparing the garden, fertilizing and planting our sweet corn. A test planting of bell peppers using a starter mix with and without worm castings along with the results. Then we take a look at country living and cover some of the things that have to be done around the place. In the May field trip we check out the corn, purple hull peas, dig a few onions and small potatoes, lettuce in containers, upside cucumbers and gherkin, green onions. Planting Cucuzza Squash and training the vines. I also build a tomato watering system using PVC pipe, plant a tomato seedling and install the system. In the next segment you’ll see and update on the worm bed, Mirliton and Cucuzza vines, huge tomato plants, crooked neck squash planted between tomato plants, purple hull pea update, Kohlrabi. The last segment we’ll dig Irish Potatoes and onions, chop up the onions, chop a few green onions and put em in the freezer. Demonstrates my "Keeping it Simple" method of growing a successful vegetable garden. Thanks and hope you enjoy. Can be viewed on your TV or PC. Video length … approx 70 minutes. |
2009 Season / DVD Disc 4 ... Picking and canning Snap Beans along with cooking a handful with fresh (new) potatoes is where we start. Updates of the summer garden is next. We pick a Cucuzza Squash, plant a few Pumpkin seeds in the garden, we then look at a few pumpkin and watermelon, cowpeas, pick a 1 lb. tomato and check on the worm bed. Those small tomato cages just wouldn’t work with those huge plants I grew so we are going to make some a lot larger. Next we pick, shell and can some of our Purple Hull Peas. That’s some good eating. We then do a little spot watering using the “Unit”. We take a look at planting a variety row of all sorts of fall vegetables. Hot peppers for pickling and planting beets is next. Bug damage and Sevin spray to control em. We now have two worm beds going and show how and what I feed em. An update on the “Creole” tomatoes, winter squash, beets, broccoli, mustard green, carrots, mirliton and Cucuzza. Low maintenance compost pile is in there too with a quick peek at the new pea sheller. Demonstrates my "Keeping it Simple" method of growing a successful vegetable garden. Thanks and hope you enjoy.
